The Tirpitz (German Battleship Tirpitz) was the second vessel of Nazi Germany's Bismarck-class battleships, named after Grand Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz of the Imperial German Navy. As one of the most powerful warships of the Kriegsmarine during World War II, it posed a persistent threat to Allied North Atlantic shipping lanes due to its long-term stationing in Norwegian fjords, earning it the nickname "Lone Wolf of the North."
Although the Tirpitz saw little direct combat, its mere presence forced the Allies to commit vast resources to neutralize it, making it a classic example of the "fleet in being" strategy.
(Note: "Lone Wolf of the North" is sometimes also referred to as "The Lonely Queen of the North" in certain historical contexts, but the former is more commonly associated with the Tirpitz.)
